Get Outside to Support Healthy Aging Services in Central Vermont!
Age outdoors with us and support healthy aging programs in Central Vermont!
Join us on Saturday, September 9th to celebrate healthy aging and raise funds to support our programs and services for older adults (age 60+) and caregivers throughout our three-county service area (Washington, Orange, and Lamoille counties).
Unfortunately, this year’s event required a large-scale shift. The July flooding has impacted our community in huge ways. We are saddened and devastated by the loss, and continuing to face it, personally and professionally, on a daily basis.
Now, we’re asking you to meet us at Northern Vermont University in Johnson to Age Outdoors! We’ll have a guided walk at 10 a.m., lunch from Morse Block Deli beginning at 12 p.m., and games galore! Try out pickleball, toss the bean bag in a round of corn hole, sample a wellness class, and, above all, play. Maybe you'll join a team in our afternoon relay (have you ever won a cookie race?)! We’ve got a great lineup of field-day style games and activities for a little friendly competition and lots of laughs!
Because we won’t have access to the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail this year, we also encourage you to take your ride, run, or walk in the community of your choice.
We encourage all registrants to create their own fundraising campaign to support this effort. Ask your friends and family to contribute a dollar amount for each mile biked or walked, or suggest a fixed donation amount. Checks can be mailed to CVCOA after the event, or create your own unique fundraising page online to help us reach our goal---you'll receive instructions on this by email after purchasing a ticket! The money raised from our annual fundraiser is integral for sustaining our innovative programs (including evidence-based exercise classes) and for supporting our care team to provide individualized support for long-term care planning, caregiver resources, health insurance counseling, resource access, and more.
Given the recent devastating flooding to many areas in our community, we will gladly provide a ticket to anyone who has given / would prefer to give to flood relief: https://vermontcf.org/our-impact/programs-and-fund.
In this case, we would ask you pay separately for your lunch. Please email Leanne Hoppe at lhoppe@cvcoa.org to register this way.
